Prescribing medical cannabis in Switzerland
Since 1 August 2022, physicians in Switzerland can prescribe medical cannabis directly — without a special permit from the Federal Office of Public Health (BAG). Prescriptions are issued via a narcotics prescription form. Recognised indications include chronic pain, spasticity in multiple sclerosis, chemotherapy-induced nausea, and treatment-resistant epilepsy, among others.
