Astrasana becomes the exclusive distribution partner of Canadian producer Green Karat for the Swiss market. This brings a genetics portfolio already established in European medical markets closer to pharmacies, clinics and the patients they serve. For the market, this is primarily a question of availability and supply security: a well-known name channelled through a specialised distributor.
Who is Green Karat?
Green Karat is a family-run, licensed cannabis producer from the Canadian province of Québec, north of Montreal. The company has held a Health Canada licence since 2020 and produces in a GMP-certified facility for the international medical market.
Its focus is explicitly on genetics and cultivar development: Green Karat works with renowned breeders and carries cultivars with pronounced terpene profiles. The range includes strains such as Modified Gas, Runtz OG and Pavé. These genetics are already introduced in several European medical markets.
What Astrasana contributes
Headquartered in Switzerland, Astrasana is a vertically integrated pharmaceutical and cannabis company that imports medical cannabis, cultivates in Switzerland and supplies pharmacies and clinics. The company maintains a growing European distribution network with partners in Switzerland, the Czech Republic and Germany, among others, and is active in more than 18 countries.
The newly agreed exclusivity for Green Karat applies solely to the Swiss market; the remaining distribution network is unaffected.
What the cooperation means
With exclusivity for Switzerland, Astrasana consolidates Green Karat products for the Swiss market within its programme. For prescribing physicians and pharmacies, this means a clearly defined supply route for genetics whose availability has so far varied by market.
Such distribution agreements are a typical building block in the medical cannabis market, where origin, consistency and regulated supply chains play a growing role.
Note: Medical cannabis is available on prescription only. This article reports on a commercial distribution cooperation and does not constitute a health claim or a product recommendation.
